A tragic railway accident in the southern state of Oaxaca has claimed the lives of at least 13 people, an incident expected to reignite censure from critics regarding the rapidity and handling of the country's key government projects.
The disaster happened on the trans-isthmus railway, a rail link constructed to link the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean across the slenderest section of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. This initiative was created to offer an competing rail corridor to the Panama Canal, with the goal of spurring economic development in the area.
“We shall meticulously determine what caused this tragedy,” stated the country's president.
