Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents the player's maiden championship after the Rome competition and first on a hard court from that period of the previous year.
Success also signifies he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.
His retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the final five points to take the lead.
Both players traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to force a final set.
The opponent defended four initial break points in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
